William J. Vickers Jr., age 51, late of Joliet, IL, passed away February 7, 2026.William was the kind of man who felt most at peace outdoors. Give him a fishing pole, a quiet stretch of water, or a wooded trail to wander, and he was right where he wanted to be. He loved hiking and being out in nature, always appreciating the simple beauty of the world around him.
His faith was an important part of his life. William was devoted to God and valued the friendships and fellowship he found through church gatherings. Those moments of connection meant a great deal to him.
Above everything, William loved his children. They were his pride and his heart. He talked about them often and cared deeply about being there for them in every way he could. Being their dad was one of the roles he cherished most. He worked hard and took pride in what he did, earning his forklift certification.
William will be remembered as a loving father, a faithful man, and someone who found joy in the outdoors and the people closest to him. He leaves behind memories of quiet fishing mornings, shared laughs, and a steady presence that will be deeply missed.
Loving father of Kevin (Ashley) Vickers and the late Alyssa Vickers. Beloved son of Peggy (John) Schaeffer and the late William J. Vickers Sr. Cherished former spouse of Melanie. Caring brother of Eric (Krista) Vickers. Wonderful uncle of several nieces and nephews. Kind nephew.
