Susan Carmella Boyd, 74, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on November 21, 2025. Born on June 9, 1951, in Chicago to Jerome and Lillian Rice, she was their cherished only daughter-always daddy's little girl. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Susan's greatest joy in life was caring for others. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to nurturing the people she loved, and her deepest devotion was to being the best mother she could be. Even while giving every part of herself to raising her daughters, she still found the strength and compassion to care for her ailing mother, never hesitating to shoulder the responsibility with grace.

Susan built her life around creating a warm, loving home where her daughters felt supported, cherished, and safe. She never wavered, even during the most difficult moments. Her unwavering presence, strength of spirit, and boundless capacity for unconditional love made her not only an extraordinary mother, but an extraordinary human being.

Her homemade baked goods were legendary, and her love for the holidays-especially her holiday treats-became beloved traditions eagerly anticipated by family and friends alike.

Susan was the devoted mother of Jennifer Boyd, who preceded her in death, and Rebecca Hernandez (Randy). She was the adored "grandma" to many beloved furbabies. She is survived by her brothers Frederick (Penny) and Douglas (Cathy) and preceded in death by her brother Michael (Annie). She was a cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Susan's memory will forever be carried in the hearts of those who loved her, her legacy living on in the warmth, love, and strength she instilled in her family.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 01, 2025, 3:00-8:00 PM at Vandenberg Funeral Home, 17248 Harlem Avenue Tinley Park, IL. 60477. Chapel Service, Tuesday December 02, 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Interment to follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
