Sandra "Sandy" A. Halper

Sandra "Sandy" A. Halper (nee O'Malley), age 85, late of Mokena, IL, passed away August 31, 2026. Sandy was a devoted parishioner of St. Mary Church in Mokena, IL for numerous years. Her faith was at the center of her life, and she was a proud and devoted believer who found great comfort, strength, and joy in her relationship with God. She cherished attending church and enjoyed the friendships she built with her fellow parishioners, always looking forward to spending time and going out with those who shared her faith.

Sandy had a beautiful smile that could brighten any room and will be remembered for her warm spirit and the kindness she shared with others. Above all else, she treasured the time spent with her family. Whether surrounded by loved ones or simply enjoying life's special moments together, her family meant the world to her.

A beloved wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, dear sister, and loyal friend, Sandy touched the lives of many. Her strong faith and the love she had for her family and friends will forever remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her.

Beloved wife of the late Carl "Chuck" Halper and the late Donald Heinzel. Loving mother of Julie (Eric) Heinzel-Sladek, Aimee Heinzel, Sheana (Scott) Brighton, Mark (Lynne), Michael (Barbara), Michele (Doug) Ward, Maria, and Joseph (Kris). Adoring grandmother of 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Caring sister of Pat (the late Bill) Phelan, Margie (Ken) Dziedzic, and the late Jim (Janis) O'Malley. Kind aunt of several nieces and nephews. Dear daughter of the late James and the late Margaret O'Malley. Amazing friend of many.

Funeral Mass, Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 19515 115th Ave. Mokena, IL 60448. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Lightways Hospice in Joliet, IL Make a Donation ' Lightways. Interment will be later at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
