Robert Wayne Bos

Robert Bos, age 80, formerly of Dolton, Illinois and most recently of Springfield, Ohio, passed away on July 20, 2026.

Robert was born on March 9, 1946, in Evergreen Park, Illinois. He lived a life defined by hard work, practicality, and a deep love for his family.

Robert dedicated many years of his career to International Harvester, later known as Navistar, where he helped build trucks and buses before retiring. He took great pride in his work and the contributions he made throughout his career.

When he wasn't working, Robert could usually be found enjoying one of his favorite pastimes. He loved fishing and never needed much of an excuse to head to the water with a rod in hand. He also had a knack for finding a great deal, spending countless hours exploring garage sales and bargain hunting. Always prepared for whatever the day might bring, Robert was someone his family could count on to think ahead and be ready for any situation.

Above all else, Robert treasured his family. He is lovingly survived by his son, Jay (Tina Camp) Bos, and his daughter, Stacie (Mark) Spizzirri. He was a proud grandfather to Kyle, Isabella, Steffani, Tony (Alyssa), Tyler (Leansie), Shane (Hayley Alexander), Mark, and Melanie, each of whom brought him tremendous joy. His legacy continues through five great-grandchildren, with three more on the way.

Robert is also survived by his sister, Arlene (the late John) Renner of Florida; his brother-in-law, Michael (Penny) Harris of Indiana; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Bos (née Harris); his parents, Bernice and Herman Bos; and his sister, Bev Heaps.

Robert will be remembered for his dependable nature, his strong work ethic, and his appreciation for life's simple pleasures. Whether he was casting a fishing line, searching for the next great bargain, or simply spending time with those he loved, he found joy in the everyday moments. His family will forever cherish the memories they shared, the lessons he taught by example, and the love he quietly gave throughout his life.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Vandenberg Funeral Home, 17248 Harlem Avenue, Tinley Park, Illinois 60477.

A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Cedar Park Cemetery, 12540 S. Halsted Street, Calumet Park, Illinois 60827.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the family would be appreciated.
