Rita M. Ulrich

Rita M. Ulrich (nee Nickless), age 64, late of Mokena, IL, passed away on October 1, 2026. Rita was a strong, determined woman who could face just about anything that came her way. She was a true fighter who never gave up, and her strength and resilience were an inspiration to the people who knew and loved her.

For more than 20 years, Rita worked as an administrative assistant at Mokena Elementary School, where she enjoyed being part of the school community and getting to know so many people throughout the years.

Outside of work, Rita knew how to have fun and enjoyed making the most of life. She loved traveling to Las Vegas, spending time at the casinos, and trying her luck at gambling. She and Ashleigh also shared a love of soccer and were longtime Chicago Stars season ticket holders, enjoying many games and memories together. Some of Rita's happiest moments were simply those spent surrounded by her family. She treasured her time with them and the memories they made together.

Above all, Rita was devoted to her family. She shared 38 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, John, and took great pride in her children and the people they became. Her love, strength, and presence will remain a lasting part of their lives.

Caring sister of William Jr. (Sandra), Robert (Kathleen), the late Edward (Linda), Gerald (Diane), the late Donald (Margaret), and John (Lynn) Nickless. Dear daughter of the late William and the late Rita F. Nickless. Kind aunt and great-aunt of several nieces and nephews.

Rita will be remembered for her strong spirit, her determination, her sense of adventure, and most of all, the love she had for her family. The memories of the laughter, travels, soccer games, casino trips, and countless moments shared together will be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Vandenberg Funeral Home, 19604 S. Wolf Rd., Mokena, IL 60448. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be Private.
