Richard Campbell, age 86, of Tinley Park, Illinois, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born and raised in Bangor, Michigan, Richard developed a deep love for music and sports early in life-passions that remained with him throughout the years. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran and a devoted fan of the Detroit Lions and the University of Michigan, loyalties shaped by his Michigan roots.

His favorite childhood memories were spending long, joyful summers at "the cottage" in Palisades Park, Michigan, where he built a lasting connection to nature, fun, and family. As an adult, Richard found his greatest happiness in spending time with his family and living an active, engaged life filled with purpose and love.

Richard's love for music was lifelong-he played piano, organ, harmonica, and more, performing throughout high school and as a member of the B Sharp Music Club. He was also a talented athlete in his youth, excelling in track, basketball, and baseball, and earning numerous awards in Bangor.

Above all else, Richard was a loving and dedicated family man. He shared 62 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Judith Ann Campbell (née Smith). Together they raised a close and loving family. He was the proud father of Jennifer Campbell, Julie (Mike) Budlove, Richard (Susan) Campbell, Janell (Rich) Price, Jeffrey (Stacy) Campbell, and Jody (Brian) Lowe.

Richard was a cherished grandfather to Heather (Bryan) Zavala, Ashley (Tom) Kletnick, Bradley (Kelsey) Szymusiak, Mitchell (Mackenzie) Budlove, Matthew Budlove, Melissa Budlove, Amanda (Kyle) Szumigalski, Katelyn Campbell, Richard Campbell, Megan Campbell, Alyssa Campbell, Amber Campbell, Brandon Price, Marissa Campbell, Nicholas Campbell, Kayla Campbell, Colin Campbell, Jacob Lowe, and Logan Lowe. He was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren who brought him much joy.

He is survived by his loving siblings, Robin (Carol) Campbell and Nancy (the late Jack) Redmond. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Josephine Campbell.
