Philip A. Balkas, age 76, late of Tinley Park, IL. United States Marine Corp Veteran. Beloved husband of Maryalice Balkas nee Palecki. Loving father of Laura (late Don) Rada, Anthony (Jackie), Michael (Suzanne), Alicia (Nate) Petersen, and Mary Balkas. Caring and proud grandfather of Ethan, AJ, Rory, Violet, Penelope. Dearest son of the late Agatha and the late Anthony Balkas. Brother of late Rita (late Leroy) Steffen, Carol (Dave) Kovacevich, Elaine (William) Fitzgerald, and Thomas Balkas. Loving companion of his K9 friend Fred. Phil, retired from CSX Railroad after 49 years. He was a proud graduate from The Illinois Institute of Technology, holding his bachelors and masters in Electrical Engineering.

Funeral Wednesday, December 23, 2020, 9:30 AM at Vandenberg Funeral Home, 17248 Harlem Avenue, Tinley Park, IL to St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM, Fr. Paul Seamen celebrating. Visitation will be held prior; 8:30-9:30 AM at the funeral home. Interment with full military honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
