Patrick Berry

Patrick Berry, 58, passed away on September 9, 2026, after a short and courageous battle with AL Amyloidosis.

Patrick was, quite simply, one of the hardest working men you could ever know. He believed in working hard for what he had, taking care of the people he loved, and being the person others could count on when something needed to be done. He was handy, resourceful, and a natural problem solver. There were very few things Patrick couldn't figure out, fix, build, or somehow make work. If someone needed a hand, he was usually the first person willing to lend one. He was funny, incredibly witty, dependable, fiercely loyal, and showed his love not only in words, but by simply being there and getting things done.

Mokena was home to Patrick in every sense of the word. He attended St. Mary School in Mokena before graduating from Marist High School in 1986 and continuing his education at St. Norbert College. He later built his 32 year career with Weber Packaging Solutions in Arlington Heights.

More than 20 years ago, Patrick met Michelle through mutual friends. They married on April 1, 2006, and together built a life filled with family, dogs, holidays, trips, laughter, and all of the ordinary moments that eventually become the ones that matter most. To Michelle, Patrick was more than her husband. He was her greatest love, her partner, and the person with whom she built a life she will forever cherish.

Anyone who knew Patrick knew that fantasy football was serious business. He was a true fanatic, the kind who studied, strategized, debated, and prepared for the season as though something considerably more important than bragging rights was on the line. In true Patrick fashion, he had already selected his 2026 fantasy team. There was a season to prepare for, after all. He was also a lifelong Chicago Bears fan and proud season ticket holder, displaying the kind of loyalty that being a Bears fan has historically required.

Holidays often meant finding Patrick outside smoking a brisket, and when it was time to get away, Jamaica held a special place in his heart. He loved his dogs and shared a particularly special bond with Riley, who preceded him in death and, without question, was waiting for him on the other side.

But underneath the fantasy football, the Bears, the brisket, the dogs, the jokes, and everything else that made Patrick Patrick, there was always family.

Patrick was the beloved husband of Michelle Berry; loving father of Brendan (Olivia Kemereit) Berry, Christian (Alyssa) Berry, and Ian (Brooklyn) Berry; proud grandfather of Jordan, Bronx, Maya, and Boston; and cherished son of H. Ray Berry.

He was also a beloved son in law to Michael and Jennifer Wenzel and Diane and Greg Summers; beloved brother in law to Amy (David); doting uncle to Ben, Kathleen (Gage), and Sydney; and proud great uncle to Charlotte and Cosette.

Patrick was preceded in death by his mother, Mary G. Berry (née Seyler); his sisters, Karon Kesich and Sharon Doeden; and his beloved dog, Riley.

Fifty eight years was nowhere near enough time for a man who still had fantasy football seasons to win, briskets to smoke, dogs to love, trips to take, things to fix, and family to enjoy. But Patrick leaves behind something far greater than the number of years he was given: a family who knew without question that they were loved, a home filled with a lifetime of memories, and countless people who knew that when they needed him, Patrick would show up.

That was Patrick. He showed up. He worked hard. He fixed what needed fixing. He took care of his people. And he loved them well.

Visitation for Patrick will be held Sunday, September 20, 2026, beginning at 12:00 p.m. until service at 5:00 p.m. at Vandenberg Funeral Home in Mokena 19604 Wolf Rd Mokena Il 60448
