Nancy Abramson Myers

June 14, 1940 — January 25, 2026

Chicago, IL

Nancy Abramson Myers, age 85, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Washington, D.C., Nancy's life was defined by curiosity, compassion, and a deep love of learning. She moved to Salinas, California as a young child where she spent most of her life. It was in Salinas that she met her husband, Arnold, raised her family, and devoted more than 40 years to teaching, shaping generations of students, and leaving a lasting impact on her community. Teaching was never just a profession for Nancy, it was her calling, and she carried that passion throughout her life.

Once her grandchildren were born, Nancy moved to Chicago to be closer to them. Beyond her family, Nancy found great joy in learning and creativity. A lifelong student, she continued her education until the very end through Northwestern University's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), embodying her belief that curiosity has no age limit. She was also a gifted artist and was deeply involved with Temple Beth El in Salinas, California, where she was an active and dedicated member of the community.

Nancy is survived by her beloved husband of over 60 years, Arnold; her devoted son, Dr. Jonathan Myers (Beth); and her grandchildren, Jack and Megan, who were the joy of her life. She is also survived by her loving siblings, Joan Abrams (Stan) and Alice Steinfeld (Joel), as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Abramson.
