Judith DuFresne, age 86, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026.
Judith was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Arthur DuFresne and Georgene DuFresne, nee Neubieser. She lived a life defined by music, learning, wellness, and a deep appreciation for nature.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Georgene DuFresne, and by her nephew, Justin Graser.
Judith is survived by her siblings, Denis (Jean) DuFresne, Alan (Ann) DuFresne, and Lana (Richard) Graser; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
An accomplished musician, Judith devoted much of her life to teaching and sharing her musical gifts with others. She taught music in Dolton and was also a member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, accomplishments of which she was quietly proud. Music was not only her profession, but her lifelong passion.
Judith spent much of her adult life living near the Indiana Dunes, a place that brought her great peace and joy. Later, she moved to Mokena, Illinois, where she spent her retirement years. She loved to travel, embraced a healthy and active lifestyle, and remained a lifelong educator at heart, always eager to share her knowledge and encourage others.
Music, health, and the dunes were central to Judith's life. She will be remembered for her dedication to teaching, her disciplined yet gentle spirit, and the lasting impact she had on those fortunate enough to learn from her and know her.
