JOSEPHINE “JO” VROTNEY January 20, 1938 – January 3, 2026

Josephine “Jo” Vrotney passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, at Lightways Hospice.

Jo was born on January 20, 1938, to Carmella and Joseph Riggio in Chicago, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Stanley Vrotney, who passed away on June 7, 2015, and by her adored grandson, John Groebe, who passed away on January 14, 2012.

Jo is survived by her cherished daughters, Karen (Jeffrey) Shinn, Laura (Kevin) Burke, and Marilyn (Douglas) Groebe. She was a devoted grandmother to Mandy (Matt) Hahn, Michael Groebe, David Shinn, Scott (Sarah) Burke, Kyle (Hope) Shinn, Matthew (Emily) Burke, and Nicholas Groebe. She was also blessed with great grandchildren Ahren, Jack, Benjamin, Atlas, and Henry, along with many special friends and extended relatives.

Jo greatly enjoyed sharing her time with her family and her many wonderful friends. She loved fishing, spending winters in Florida, composing prize winning poems, and creating crafts. Jo also earned the affectionate nickname “Lucky Jo,” having once won a car and many trips over the years.

Visitation will be held on Saturday January 17, 2026 from 9:30 AM until 11:30 AM at Vandenberg Funeral Home, 17248 South Harlem Avenue, Tinley Park, Illinois. A Catholic Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 AM with a procession to follow to Good Shepard Cemetery at 16201 104th Ave Orland Park Il 60467
