Jordan Weber Roman of Oak Lawn, Illinois passed away on January 11th, 2026 at the age of 33, after a series of complications following an aspiration event at Christ Hospital. She passed peacefully in the arms of her husband, surrounded by family and friends.
Jordan was born on January 24th, 1992 to parents Tammy Alberico and Randy Alberico. She was raised in Midlothian before moving to Minooka at the age of 8 and was joined two years later with the birth of her younger brother Dominic. She attended Minooka High School with the class of 2010, Columbia College for photography and Governors State pursuing social sciences and global studies. A lover of coffee, she worked as a barista for several years at a local coffee shop and Starbucks.
She was called to begin her service to God and her community at Parkview Christian Church in Orland Park, working as a small group leader and preschool teacher. In 2014 that service to others expanded on a global scale, as she embarked on her first mission trip to Kenya in Africa. She returned the following year for a 3 month internship working closely with members of the community, providing families with local resources and prayer during home visits, and assisting with free medical care and community health education. She also worked closely with a boarding school for girls outside of Nairobi. It was here in Kenya that Jordan truly discovered her passion for service to others.
After returning home, at a fateful New Year's Eve party silhouetted by the glow of a Burger Time arcade game, she reconnected with a friend, Chris Roman, who would be the one her soul loved. Chris and Jordan took each other hand in hand and dove straight into a life of adventure together, beginning with their first trip to New Orleans just shortly after dating. One year later, they would return to New Orleans, where Chris would propose to a Dixieland jazz cover of their song, "It Had to Be You," and they would be married the following year on June 16th, 2018.
Their life together was full of adventure, travels around the country, several trips to Disney World, and Costa Rica for their honeymoon. They moved to Logan Square in Chicago where they would fill their home with dozens of plants and two cats, Hamilton and Meeko, and were known to throw a pretty great Halloween party, despite Jordan being known as "Christmas Girl."
Jordan's empathy, love, and commitment to the service of others through Christ's teachings led her to pursue social work in her community in Chicago, working at organizations such as World Relief, the Greater Chicago Food Depository, and finally Exodus World Service, a refugee resettlement agency, and Jordan's dream job. Through Exodus she would help establish immigrant and refugee families into their community in the Chicago area. Her job was quite literally to be a warm, loving friend and resource to families who had nothing. There was no one better suited for the task.
Her hobbies outside of work and travel included reading dozens of books, baking, listening to records, watching and rewatching Friends, decorating for holidays (especially Christmas), photography, plants, and floral design. Jordan even started her own floral company, Ivy & Lace, where she designed bouquets and arrangements for weddings and other occasions.
In 2020, Jordan and her family's lives changed forever when she suffered a tragic anoxic brain injury that resulted in her loss of speech and mobility, and required full 24/7 care from her husband Chris. God graciously gave Jordan five and a half more years on this Earth following her accident to inspire others and continue changing lives. Her family wishes to thank her medical and rehabilitation teams, especially the doctors and therapists from Christ Hospital and Shirley Ryan Ability Lab.
Jordan is the embodiment of selflessness, kindness, empathy, warmth, and service. Always thinking of others, always helping others, always loving others.
She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Roy and Alice Walker, paternal grandparents Aldo and Gloria Vitelli, and Eugene and Janet Alberico, and one uncle George Vitelli.
Survivors include her husband Christopher Roman; parents Tammy Alberico and Randy Alberico; brother Dominic Alberico and his fiancé Grace Lardi; aunts and uncles Roy and Brenda Walker, Jim and Kathleen Alberico, Mark and Carla Binzen, Dave and Crystal Pearce, and Bob and Kathy Nelson, as well as numerous cousins, friends, and coworkers around the world.
Visitation will be held Friday January 16th, 2026, from 12:00 PM until a memorial service at 5:00 PM at Vandenburg Funeral Home. We hope you join us in celebrating the life of Jordan as she celebrated others.
