February 9, 1930 - May 12, 2025
Rose Wozniak, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and proud German-American, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025, at the age of 95. Born in Würzburg, Germany, Rose was one of nine siblings and lived through the hardships of World War II. In 1950, she immigrated to the United States as a displaced person, arriving through New York with courage and hope for a new life. She eventually settled in Chicago in 1967 and later made Mokena, Illinois her home.
Rose worked at Chef Klaus Bier Stube in Frankfort and later for the Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart, where her nurturing spirit and work ethic left a lasting impression. She was deeply proud of her German heritage and loved traditional music and dancing.
Rose is survived by her devoted children: Antonia (Tony) Albrecht, Anne Clark, and Richard Jaekel (Suzanne Gallagher); her cherished grandchildren: Jamie Albrecht, Jennifer Krenzke (Fred), Michael Clark (Erin), Jacqueline Burton (Matt), Mattheus Jaekel, and Erich Jaekel; and her treasured great-grandchildren: Ray, Cheyenne, Matthew, and Alex (children of Jennifer); Ariana and Wesley (children of Michael and Erin); and Colbie, Reese, and Flynn (children of Jackie and Matt).
Her life was a beautiful story of perseverance, love, and dedication to family. Rose will be remembered for her strength, grace, and the joy she brought to every gathering.
Visitation will commence Saturday, May 24, 2025, 9:00 AM until time of Funeral Service 11:00 AM at Vandenberg Funeral Home, 19604 Wolf Road, Mokena, IL. 60448. Interment will follow in in St. Mary Cemetery - Mokena.
