James "Jim" F. Kasal, age 82, late of Tinley Park, IL, passed away April 7, 2026. Jim was a proud and devoted family man, remembered for his loyalty, quiet strength, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. A soft-spoken yet hardworking individual, he lived a life grounded in care, integrity, and perseverance. He was also a compassionate caregiver to his family. He always put the needs of others before his own and offered steady support, patience, and kindness to those who depended on him.
Jim graduated from Riverside-Brookfield High School and went on to obtain his bachelor's degree in education from Northern Illinois University. He spent seven years as a middle school history teacher at Central Jr. High, where he inspired young minds with his passion for learning and steady guidance. Jim worked as a fire protection engineer, focusing primarily on sprinkler system design for most of his career.
A natural athlete in his youth, Jim enjoyed playing football, baseball, and basketball. His love of sports remained with him throughout his life-he was an avid fan who especially enjoyed watching baseball and cheering on his favorite Chicago teams, the White Sox and the Bears.
In his free time, Jim found joy in simple pleasures. He collected coins and stamps, enjoyed playing solitaire, and liked trying his luck on slot machines. These hobbies reflected his patient, thoughtful nature and appreciation for life's quieter moments.
Above all, Jim cherished his family. He shared 49 loving years of marriage with his beloved late wife Audrey, building a life rooted in commitment and care. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and will be remembered for his kindness, humility, and steadfast presence. Jim leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Beloved husband of the late Audrey Kasal (nee Nielsen). Adored companion of the late Janet LaGrou. Loving father of Andy (Kim) Kasal and Kim (Kevin) Klunder. Cherished grandfather of Amanda and Becca Klunder. Caring brother of Kathy Cribaro. Wonderful brother-in-law of Don (Nancy) Nielsen. Dear son of the late Frank and Bernice Kasal. Kind uncle and great uncle of several nieces and nephews. Amazing cousin of numerous.

Funeral Service, Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Vandenberg Funeral Home, 17248 S. Harlem Ave., Tinley Park, IL 60477. Interment will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
