Harry P. Sinnott Jr., 64 — A Life Lived Loudly and Lovingly
Harry P. Sinnott Jr., 64, of Orland Park, IL, passed away on May 19, 2025 — not quietly, we assume, but in true Harry fashion, probably with a Cubs shirt on, a professional wrestling match playing in the background, and his loyal animals nearby. Born on September 27, 1960, in Chicago to Harry and Carmella Sinnott, Harry packed more heart, humor, and honesty into one lifetime than most people do in three.
A proud graduate of Curie High School (Class of 1980), Harry started his career at the Swap-O-Rama flea markets, where his gift of gab and love for people made him a natural. By 1989, he stepped into wholesaling at the flea market, where he hustled hard, helped many, and stayed true to his values, all while holding onto his trusty flip phone. He created many of lifelong friends at the flea markets.
Harry loved many things in life; his Cubs (even when they made it difficult), professional wrestling (the old-school kind), and feeding any animal that crossed his path (including some raccoons that might’ve been on the family payroll). But above all, he loved his people.
He is survived by his devoted children, Christopher (Karley) Sinnott Sr. and Rebecca Sinnott, and his lifelong partner and co-conspirator in life and laughter, Jacqueline Sinnott. He was the proudest Papa to Skyler, Avery, Jacob, Christopher Jr., and Ezekiel whose mere presence lit up his face faster than when the Cubs won a World Series. He was also the honorary Papa to Ethan, Dean, and Eliana, because Harry never let biology limit his capacity for love.
His siblings Marigrace C. (David) Sinnott-Snooks, John W. (Ellen) Sinnott, Anthony J. (Mila) Sinnott Sr., Camille M. (Kirk) Vopelak Sr., and Roxanne L. (Michael) Vilarosa will remember him as the brother who made them laugh, had their backs, and maybe occasionally flipped them off affectionately of course. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews, cousins and other family members, including numerous friends.
Harry had an uncanny ability to flip people the bird, not out of anger, but with a grin and a twinkle in his eye, like a weirdly charming act of endearment. And somehow, it worked. Everyone loved Harry. He was kind, genuine, generous, and honest to his core. He was a compass in chaos, a helper without hesitation, and a bright spot at every family gathering.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Carmella Sinnott, who surely welcomed him with open arms and a sarcastic comment.
Visitation will be held Tuesday at 3:00 PM at Vandenberg Funeral Home in Tinley Park. A service to honor Harry's life (and probably laugh a little through the tears) will follow at 7:00 PM. Burial will be private, because if anyone deserves a little peace and quiet after a lifetime of making noise, it’s Harry.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations to help with unexpected expenses, a gesture that Harry, in all his practical wisdom, would surely appreciate.
Rest easy, Harry. You were one of a kind. And if heaven doesn't have wrestling, a Cubs game, or decent phone service for your flip phone, we trust you’re already filing a complaint — with love.
