George Gustav Bolokowicz, age 79 of Mokena, IL peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on August 24, 2024. As a Veteran of the U.S. Army, George grew up on the Southside of Chicago alongside his late brother Richard, and proudly served his country from 1964-67. A short time after, he started his career at United Airlines, where he met and fell in love with his loving wife Suzanne. Later continuing his professional growth at First Chicago Bank, later Chase Bank, to Vice President Systems Manager.
George took great pride in his family, his job, and the smaller things in life. As an avid handyman, as was his father, George found himself with endless projects and lists, but ones he enjoyed celebrating in completion with his family. He was an avid fisherman, loved the outdoors, being on the water, and spending time with his Ioved ones in the places that made him the happiest. George was also an incredible storyteller with a sharp sense of humor, and if you were lucky enough, you encountered this first hand for better or for worse.
George was active in his faith from a young age and was a member of St. Mary’s parish in Mokena. He is survived by his loving wife Suzanne, his sons Joseph and Andrew, his daughter in law Angela, his grandchildren Miles and Victoria, his nephews Mike and Tony, and his niece Carolyn.
Funeral Thursday, August 29, 2024, 10:00 AM at Vandenberg Funeral Home 19604 Wolf Road, Mokena, Il 60448 to St. Mary Church, Mokena, IL for 10:30 Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation Wednesday 3:00-8:00 PM. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
