Emblem

Edward "Sandy" H. Travis Jr, age 80, late of Mokena, IL, passed away August 16, 2026. Proud U.S. Vietnam Army Veteran. Parishioner of St. Mary Church in Mokena, IL. Edward dedicated 30 years of his career to U.S. Steel Gary Works before retiring. He was a hardworking man who took pride in his work and the life he built for his family.

Outside of work, Edward knew how to enjoy life and always made time for the things that made him happy. He loved traveling and looked forward to discovering new places and making memories along the way. He had a special love for concerts and music and could always be found enjoying a good song. He especially loved dancing and being surrounded by good people.

Edward was also the kind of person who could fix just about anything. Mechanically minded and naturally handy, there was rarely a problem he couldn't figure out. He enjoyed putting his mind to work with Sudoku puzzles, but he never took life too seriously and always made time for fun. Whether he was traveling, listening to music, dancing, solving a puzzle, or simply enjoying the company of others, Edward knew how to make the most of life.

Edward will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his love of music and dancing, his ability to fix just about anything, and his wonderful appreciation for the simple joys in life. Most of all, he will be remembered for the laughter, stories, good times, and memories he created with the people who were fortunate enough to know and love him. His zest for life and the happiness he brought to others will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

Beloved husband of Charmaine Willand for 15 years. Loving father of the Dale Travis and the late Daniel Travis. Loving stepfather of Jason Willand, Monique (Daniel) Dietz, and Christopher (Demi) Willand. Cherished step grandfather of Logan, Edward, and Hazel.
