Dominic Bertinetti III

Dominic "Bert" Bertinetti, III, age 68, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026.

Born January 31, 1958, Dominic was the beloved son of Doris (Baber) and the late Dominic Bertinetti, Jr.

Dominic was a lifelong resident of Tinley Park. He attended Tinley Park public schools, and St. Xavier College and Chicago State University, earning a teaching degree and participating in the basketball programs. Dominic taught Social Studies at Gordon Tech and Proviso West High Schools and especially enjoyed coaching baseball and mentoring players. After retirement he continued to teach as a substitute in the Lincolnway High School district, also assisting with their baseball teams.

Dominic rarely missed watching Notre Dame football and St. Louis Cardinals baseball games. 

He enjoyed cooking and baking, and he was happiest when planning and preparing feasts and treats for family, friends, and co-workers. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing, and traveling.

Dominic was devoted to his family and cared for anyone in need. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister, Rebecca (the late John) Di Clemente, his brother James (Debra) Bertinetti, his niece, Jessa (Matt) Friedrich, his nephews, Sebastian Di Clemente and Andrew (Summer Sherman) Bertinetti, a great-niece, and a great-nephew. He is also survived by his dear friend, Matthew (Meghann) Kloiber, and was proudly "Grandpa Bert" to their children.

A visitation will be held Thursday, July 9, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., with a short service and celebration of life to follow, at Vandenberg Funeral Home, 17248 S. Harlem Avenue, Tinley Park, Illinois.

Dominic was a very giving person. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the American Heart Association, St. Jude Hospital, or any little league baseball organization.
