Dennis “Denny” James Rogers was born March 2nd, 1951 and was carried home by God on July 21st, 2020. Denny was preceded in death by his parents Patrick and Eileen Rogers and by his ANGEL and wife of 15 years, Peg O’Neill Rogers. He is survived by his wife Sally Cline Rogers and his children: Shane and Emily McFly, Brian and Kristen Rogers, Caitlin and Ryan Barry, Marty and Erica Rogers, Rebecca Rogers, Kristi Vanderploeg, Keith W. Vanderploeg, Mark and Debbie Vanderploeg, Katie and Ryan McGinn. He will be forever loved and missed by his grandchildren who were his whole world: Jessica and Kyle, Jacob and Joey, Coleman, Layla, Zach, Kourtney, Aubree, Rome, Jonah, Abbey, Hailey, and his first great grandchild (expected August 9th) Delanie.
Denny was the third child of Patrick and Eileen. He is survived by his siblings Sharon and (late) Tim Hickey, Michael and Pat Rogers, Dan and Debbie Rogers, Karen Brasch, Pattie Honig, Marty and Lisa Rogers. Denny also has a multitude of nieces and nephews who he delighted in.
Denny will always be remembered for his larger than life personality, his love for telling jokes and his ability to never meet a stranger that he couldn’t make laugh. Denny had a life full of making friends with his many years of employment. He especially cherished Mary Ellen Irwin. Denny loved fishing, camping and football. He particularly enjoyed his early fishing trips to Canada with his good buddies Tom Jones and Joe Lenart.
He was a member of St. Mary’s church in Mokena. He was active in the men’s ministry where he met his dear friend and mentor Nick DiGiovanni.
Denny loved life.. loved it! And he will be missed by so many people. Until we meet again, OUR HERO AND CHAMPION! Viewing of Denny will be at St. Marys Church in Mokena from 11:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 12 noon. Interment is at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Due to the global health pandemic (COVID-19) and public health mandates, the gathering size will be limited to less than fifty (50) attendees in the funeral facilities at any given time.
