Dale Simester
Dale Simester, age 73, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on July 5, 1952, to Cheryl and Raymond Simester, Dale lived a life filled with dedication, laughter, hard work, and love for the people and simple moments that mattered most.
Dale was the beloved husband of Janice Simester. Their story began while working together at Chase, an industrial supply company, where a workplace introduction grew into a lifetime of love and partnership. Dale and Janice built a beautiful life together and would have celebrated 40 years of marriage on October 25, 2026. Their years together were filled with family, memories, and the everyday moments that create a lifetime of love.
He was the devoted father of John Simester and Ryan (Kristin) Simester. Dale was truly a "boy dad" in every sense of the word. He was always involved, always cheering, and always present, whether it was baseball, football, flag football, golf, or frisbee golf. He loved sharing his passions with his sons and took great pride in watching them grow.
Dale graduated from Fenger High School in 1970 and continued his education at Western Illinois College. He went on to build an incredible career with Grainger, where he worked in inside sales for over 40 years. Known as the ultimate early bird, Dale was often the first one there, the one with the keys to open the store, and someone others could always count on.
Outside of work, Dale was happiest outdoors. He loved golfing, hunting, fishing, gardening, and taking meticulous care of his lawn. His attention to detail and pride in his yard became something he passed down to his sons. Whether tending the garden, enjoying a day outside, or watching his favorite teams, Dale appreciated life's simple pleasures.
A true sports fan, Dale loved cheering on his Chicago teams, especially the Blackhawks, White Sox, and Bears. When it came to college sports, he proudly supported Michigan State. In his younger years, Dale enjoyed playing softball and spent many years bowling in leagues throughout the area.
Music was another joy throughout Dale's life. He loved listening to his favorite artists and bands, especially Santana, the Grateful Dead, Phil Collins, Led Zeppelin, and of course, The Beatles. Whether it was a favorite song playing, a game on TV, or simply enjoying time with those around him, Dale knew how to appreciate the moments that made life special.
He also loved quiet moments at home watching Jeopardy! and spending time with his loyal dog, Stuie.
Dale is survived by his loving wife, Janice; his sons, John and Ryan (Kristin); his sisters, Debra (the late Russell) Reinhardt and Diane (Jeffrey) Faulk; his beloved dog, Stuie; along with extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cheryl and Raymond Simester.
Those who knew Dale will remember him as an all-around family man, dependable, hardworking, loyal, and always there for the people he loved. His greatest legacy will live on through his family, the memories they created together, and the lessons he passed along.
Cremation rites have been completed. The family will gather for a Celebration of Dale's Life around his birthday to honor and remember a life so well lived.
