Constance “Connie” Mazurski (née Gnojek), born February 7, 1927, passed away on July 16, 2023 at the age of 96. Connie reunites with her dear husband of 71 years, Thaddeus “Ted”, who passed a few weeks prior. Connie was born in West Virginia to Frank and Maryanna (née Kaczmarczyk) Gnojek. She is preceded in death by her 11 siblings. Connie and Ted raised 6 children - Ted (Melanie), Tom (Joanne), Mary Brittian, Michael (Eileen), John (Hunter Mills) and Bob (Julie). She had a soft spot for her 11 grandchildren - Erik (Dina), James (Melita), Paul (Mariafe), Sean (Victoria), Lauren (Matthew), Lindsey (Dustin), Eddie (Stephanie), Steven (Ally), Jamie, Kelly and Lia - and 14 great grandchildren. Connie had an appreciation for the simple things in life - family, fresh air, phone calls, quick visits, car rides and a beautiful flower garden. Her face would light up when sharing stories of her childhood days in West Virginia and Blackwater Falls. She studied to become a nurse, and spent the early part of her career working at the veterans health clinics. Connie loved a lively house and good family party. She kept a stash of vanilla crème cookies in a jar in the kitchen and always had little smokies and black cherry soda at the ready. She made hundreds of pierogis and cookies for the holidays. She licked her fingers when she cooked and always reused her tester spoon. Her process was mastered and her pierogis are legendary. Connie was a puzzle enthusiast. She would dominate any competitive game of Scrabble and solve Wheel of Fortune puzzles faster than the contestants. She also filled her spare time with sewing - proactively making limited quantity baby quilts for the first great grandchildren. Connie prioritized those around her and asked for nothing in return. Her tight hugs and wet kisses will especially be missed, but her family is at peace knowing she is reunited with Ted, after their short time apart.
She loved flowers. But in lieu of sending them, plant something special in your garden to enjoy for years to come.
