Carmela Marie Maloney

Carmela Marie "Melly" Maloney, 88, of Tinley Park, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Lightways Hospice House in Joliet, Illinois, following a brief battle with cancer.

Carmela, affectionately known as "Melly" to her family and friends, was born September 9, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois, to Frank and Rose (Nardi) Cesario. She married Richard Maloney on August 22, 1959, at St. Claire of Montefaco Church in Chicago. Together, they began their married life in Chicago, where they raised their four children, Eileen and triplets Rich, Ron and Ruth. In 1975, Carmela and Richard moved their family to Tinley Park, where she remained a resident for the rest of her life.

Melly was devoted to her family above all else. Her greatest joy in life was being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was happiest when surrounded by the people she loved, and her family was the center of her world. She loved making cherished memories that will remain with her family for generations to come.

Carmela is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Richard Maloney; her children, Eileen (Jack) Crouse of Dowagiac, Michigan, Richard (Pamela) Maloney, Ruth (James) Piff and Ronald (Pamela) Maloney, all of Tinley Park, Illinois; her grandchildren, Kevin, Katie, Ashley (Thomas), Amanda (William), Thomas, Michael, Josh and Lauren; her beloved great-grandchildren, Liam and Caden; and dozens of nieces and nephews.

She will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
