Betty J. Howell

Betty J. Howell (née Chase), 98, late of Manteno, IL. Beloved wife of the late Everett "Gene" Howell. Loving mother of Mel "Bud" (Mary Lu) Lee; devoted stepmother of Joan (Steve) Kasper, Jean (Gary) Grono, and the late James Howell. Cherished grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother to many, all of whom she held close to her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Joan Chase, and her brothers, Ralph and Bob Chase.

Betty and her husband faithfully served for many years at Hines VA, retiring together in 1978. She spent much of her life with a deep love for Minnesota, treasuring time at her summer home near Lake Belle Taine, where quiet days and simple joys brought her peace. Betty also found happiness in the companionship of the seven Yorkies she and Gene lovingly raised over the years.

In April of 2008, Betty was baptized in the waters of salvation alongside her son, Mel-a meaningful expression of her faith. She held a quiet and enduring love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and even during her time on hospice, she found comfort in that faith.

A private family inurnment will be held, where Betty will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Evergreen Cemetery in Evergreen Park, IL.
